Housework: simple solutions to save you time and money!
Keeping the house clean and organized can sometimes seem impossible. Life gets busy and if you add more people to your home like a partner, children and perhaps some pets then it can get downright overwhelming.
When you take a few moments out of your day to stay on top of things so they don't get out of control helps save you time and money and sets you up for success! With an organized life it is much easier to place your focus and energy on those things that are really important to you.
The best piece of advice I can give you is to do a little as you go, never let a little thing sit because one little thing, turns into many little things and then you get one bit mess. If you clean a small mess immediately it can take half the time or less than if you let it set.
· To help keep the kitchen drawers clean, make sure that the drawers are closed all of the way when you are cleaning, or cooking. Keeping the drawers closed during kitchen activities means that food and debris can’t fall inside of them.
· Cleaning under the stove top and under the appliances regularly (say once a month or once a season) makes it easier to clean than waiting until you move or need to move and appliance. Additional benefit: helps lower risk of pest and hazardous bacteria.
· Rinse dishes right after eating and / or cooking: this shaves minutes off of scrubbing later. This also saves money from the extra electricity, water and products needed during the scrubbing process.
· Place extra food in containers, place them in the fridge and then soak your pans while you eat or even better to save water, rinse them right away. This can also save you from eating seconds because the food is already put away.
· Rinse clothes that have spills on them right away: this saves time and money from having to go shopping later to replace them from stains that developed
· Each time you get up from a room to head to the kitchen be sure to take your cups, dishes or trash that you had with you to the kitchen
· Cleaning up after your dogs each time you take them out is much easier and more sanitary then waiting and doing it once a week or so. This also saves you the mess they might track in from stepping in their own messes.
· Cleaning off doggy paws just before they come in from outside can save you a lot of extra cleaning of your floors and furniture later. This will also save you money from all the cleaning products and possibly the need to replace carpets and furniture.
· Making sure to walk your dogs before leaving sets them and you up for success again saving you time and money by preventing messes in the house
· Be sure to spend a moment playing with your pets and giving them toys to play with while you are gone and this will lower their level of boredom and save you from possible damages to have to clean up later
· Put your clothes right after washing lowers the need for ironing plus it lowers the incidences where they could get dirty before you even get to wear them (like from pets or children or just simply by collecting dust).
· Organize your home: much time is wasted looking for things and much money is spent buying things you already have
· Have a consistent spot to put your daily things: Keys, glasses, sun glasses etc. this will save you seconds or even minutes each day from having to search. Plus you will set yourself up to be on time for events and not using the excuse you couldn’t find your keys
· Have a spare set of keys in a specific location for those times when you do actually lose your keys
· Have your keys in your hand and look at them as you close the door or trunk of your car. This will prevent you from locking them in and having to find a way to unlock your car or pay to have someone do it for you.
Your home is your castle, it is your oasis away from it all and what many may not realize is that it is often the center of your life, and the place where your day begins.
Much of your success starts at home! If you start out frustrated because you can't find things or you are tripping over things or you just don't feel good in your home it can and most likely will affect your day.
Make your home a place of peace, relaxation and a place that you can start your days off joyfully.
